Anguilla-Saint Martin, USVI-Cayman Islands start League C

MIAMI, Florida – The action in League C of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League begins on Thursday with a pair of matches in the Caribbean.

Anguilla vs. Saint Martin

The day starts in Group A as Anguilla host Saint Martin at the Raymond E. Guishard Stadium in The Valley, Anguilla.

While it will be their first-time meeting in the CNL, the two teams have squared off in 10 previous matches, with Saint Martin holding a slight edge of 5W-1D-4L, outscoring Anguilla 20-12.

Anguilla enjoyed a very positive 2022-23 CNL campaign by finishing second in their group thanks to two draws, and now they will be keen for a first ever CNL victory. Jonathan Guishard, who scored in last season’s CNL, will be one to watch.

When it comes to Saint Martin, the man everyone will have an eye on is Yannick Bellachasse, who has four career goals in the CNL. Not to be outdone is Pierre-Bertrand Arne, who scored twice in the 2022-23 edition.

US Virgin Islands vs. Cayman Islands

The nightcap will be a battle in Group B between US Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands at the Bethlehem Soccer Complex in Upper Bethlehem on Saint Croix.

J.C. Mack scored two goals in the 2022-23 CNL, including the winning score in a memorable 3-2 final over Turks and Caicos Islands in the final seconds.

Michael Martin and Jonah Ebanks are tied with three goals as the all-time top scorers in CNL history for Cayman Islands. Two of Martin’s goals came in a 2-0 win against USVI in the 2019-20 CNL.
